In 2011, I took a year off and traveled the world. Pure self indulgence and a year of bliss!
These photos were taken from Poon Hill 3210 m, Nepal on the Annapurna Circuit in October 2011. We started walking in the dark from Ghorenpni 2,874 m and got to the top for sunrise. We had views of Annapurna 8,091m, Dhaulgiri 8,167 m and Machhapuhhare or Fish Tail Peak 6,993 m
Wen we got to the top, the mountains were covered in cloud, it was cold and grey, but as we waited the clouds wafted and drifted to reveal increasingly spectacular views of these massive Himalayan beauties. In this case it was not so much the clouds themselves that were mesmerizing but the beautiful vista that appeared as they moved away. It was like a theatre’s curtain rising.

Yes. They are in my thoughts. I have heard from my guides on that trip and they are safe but so many have lost so much.
