In response to Jennifer’s One word Photo Challenge – Winter
The Sapporo Snow festival is a yearly event held for one week in Sapporo during February. Sapporo is in Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost, main island. Hokkaido is known for its long winters and copious snowfall. While farmers make hay while the sun shines, the people of Sapporo and indeed from all over Japan and all over the world descend on Sapporo and make the most amazing snow and ice sculptures In 2014 the main theme was The Sochi Winter Olympics. It is possibly the busiest time of the year for Sapporo tourism. The sculptures were amazing and the street food was warm, filling and delicious.
