Hand stitched wall Hanging – Peru
In 2010, My good friend and travel buddy headed to Peru to walk the Inca Trail. It was the first time at altitude for both of us so we were a little nervous.
It was a fabulous trip as we started preparing back in New Zealand and did a lot of wonderful day walks around home which I had never done before. I really recommend getting out and exploring your own backyard as well as travel further afield!
Before we did the trek, we took ourselves to Lake Titicaca, It is at high altitude and seemed a good way to start acclimatizing. We visited Uros where the people live on floating reed islands. It was rather touristy but at the same time fascinating.
I bought this from some ladies who were selling their handicrafts. The folks were dressing in traditional gear, bright and colorful. Snotty nosed bright eyed kids were running around and babies were on mother’s backs.
I love textiles. I use this as a table cover or a wall hanging. It is bright and cheerful and keep memories of a wonderful two weeks in Peru fresh in my mind.

My sister went to Peru just a few days ago. Uros sounds very Slovenian. 🙂 Is he, do you know? Lovely colours, again.

Uros was the name of the place.

It’s a quite common Slovenian first name for men. It is written Uroš.

Sounds like fun. I love challenges but I am not much of a photographer.
