Oddly Rushed

Miyajima is a famous tourist spot down near Hiroshima. Many of you will recognise the big Red Otorii gate which stands in the sea and heralds the entrance of Itsukushima jinja or shrine. Nothing odd here, you think and you are right! It’s just one of my favourite places so wanted to share these two shots.

On the island, there is a ropeway up to the top when you can get great views and many sacred deer are wandering free. Beware of those little tykes as they have been known to eat paper money that is stuffed in your pocket or eat your precious railpass!

It was on our way to the ropeway station that we came across this wee odd ball of a sign.

It made us feel oddly pressured to run but then we remembered we were on holiday. On or way we came across this wee odd ball of a deer. He had abandoned the easy pickings of gullible tourists who had stocked up on deer food and gone organic just as real deer do! The brief look he gave us before continuing to munch had us feeling like oddballs !
