Red is such a festive season colour. A NZ red usually refers to a bottle of fine NZ red wine. Our Southern regions produce some world quality reds these days. Many a bottle is consumed over the holiday season and many a tale spun, I am sure!
However, being summer down here in NZ there is no shortage of flowers. I only had to step out into Mum and Dad’s garden to find a few beautiful NZ reds.
My Mum and dad have a lovely red rose in their garden which they grew from cuttings many years ago. I think it called Dublin Rose. It is always at full bloom at this time of the year. Its scent wafts around the house on the warm summer breeze.

When I working here in NZ, my friend and I would celebrate finishing the school year in December by taking off for a few days of R &R. These photos were taken in the coastal town of Kaikoura, about 2 hours north of Christchurch and well known as a whale watching area.
Happy New Year everyone!
