Panajachel is a small town and a major tourist destination on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. Panajachel itself is is becoming very touristy but the area is gorgeous. One of my favourite afternoons was walking through the town and taking a 5km walk to a small village called Santa Catarina Palopo. We left the small town centre and passed through a church square on the outskirts of town, Some young lads were playing soccer and it required an important strategy huddle!.
In Santa Catarina Palopo village life was conducted outside doorways and people dressed traditionally and chatted in the streets.
We took a trip across the Lake to some of the smaller villages. The light on the lake was superb and I think one of my favourite photos from my year away was taken here. There were some great art galleries and wonderful views of the volcano to be seen. The day ended with a beautiful sunset and memories of some great doors!

Thank you Joey! What a lovely comment! Much appreciated. I love the doors but even more so I love to imagine the life that goes on behind them, or catch glimpses of it as I pass. In this case, live was happening outside them!
