A fabulous winter day in the South Island of New Zealand. I am home for 5 weeks and on August 21st I took a trip across the Southern Alps to my birthplace and hometown. My “cuzzie” took me over. It was great to have a catch up with him, family folk lore and fun stories and funny memories of nana and grandad, our folks, siblings, aunties, uncles, other “cuzzies” and mutual friends were rehashed. A real “remember when” fest.
I headed over to stay with my oldest and dearest friend. We have a long history. Our birthdays are a day apart so we started primary school together back in August 1971! Do the math people, we have been friends for 44 years. Our friendship is strong and lasting. Over the years there have been times where we have been separated by geography or the different paths our lives have taken but we always come back together and when we meet up it is as if we have never been apart.
Yes August the 21st was a good day! This spectacular scenery, it’s beauty and steadfast solidness represents my family and friendship.
